Animal Week  July 9th – 13th

It’s a Zoo at Kimball Jenkins School of Art! If you love wildlife you will love this wild week of animal fun with art projects based on the unique features of animals. Let your imaginations run wild as you turn Tiger stripes into shades of pink and blue. On your animal adventure you will learn about the amazing and diverse creatures that call Earth home. From Aardvarks to Zebras, to Butterflies and Jellyfish we will travel the world in search of, and the protection of, amazing animals.

Fantasy, Fairy Tales, and Myths Week July 16th – 20th

A magical world, where anything is possible, springs to life at the enchanting grounds of the historic Kimball Jenkins Estate. The realms of Fairy tales and mythic legends come to life, where wizards cast spells and dragons take flight. It’s a world where robots and knights save fairies from dinosaurs and zombies. Come celebrate the creative worlds of Fantasy, Fairy tales, Myths, Horror, and Science Fiction through magical art projects and costumes. We will bring to life the works of great writers and story tellers. If you are brave enough, there might be a ghost hunt through the mansion waiting for you.

World Passport to Art Adventures July 23rd – July 27th

We will celebrate the unique cultures of the world, both past and present, with art projects inspired by the people and places of the world. We will travel from the Great Pyramids to the Great Wall of China, and through the jungles of the Amazon, to experience the different cultures of amazing and remarkable people from far away places. We will learn the customs and the art of the new cultures we encounter on our journey. So grab your passports and get ready for the adventure of your life!

 

Cartoons, Comics, and Manga July 30th – August 3rd

Let’s learn how to be super hero artist using the amazing skills of art. We will create new heroes and cartoon characters that we will bring to life. We are off to imagine and create amazing adventures that we will illustrate in comic books and journals. It’s a week of celebrating the amazing animation, crazy cartoons, and heroic comics we all love. From Disney Princesses to Iron Man, this is a week to celebrate the movies, books, and animation of our favorite and newly imagined characters.

Earth Week August 6th - 10th

It’s a week of art that celebrates the coolest place in the solar system, and it’s not Pluto. It’s the Earth! Let’s become artist caretakers of our blue planet by creating amazing art using natural materials and recycled objects that help the environment. From found object art and nature mosaics to biodegradable sculptures we will take a step forward to keeping the Earth beautiful with art. Let’s use art to spread the word that we must preserve our shared home and keep the Earth as the most wonderful place ever. We love nature!

 Great Artist Week August 13th – 17th

 Have you ever wanted to paint and draw like the masters? Then this is the week for you. In this week you will learn all the principles and elements to make fantastic art. There will be drawing, painting, sculpture, and clay projects based on all the artist that we all love and admire like Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Jasper Johns. When you take this week of art lessons and projects you are on your way to becoming more famous than Andy Warhol. Get ready to create art, improve your artistic skills, and set up an art show that celebrates the work you create to keep the arts alive.

What time does it start and how much does it cost?
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Members $225 per week
Non-members $245 per week

Will we be working with clay?
Students will complete a minimum of 2 clay projects every week.

How do I register?
The Kimball-Jenkins office is open for registration weekdays from 9 A.M to 4:30 P.M. Please call 225-3932 or stop by our campus at 266 N. Main Street to register!
Registration is ongoing as long as space is available.

I work until 5:00, but the program ends at 3:00. Are there any after camp activities?
Yes! Kimball-Jenkins offers after camp supervision from 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM, for an additional $40 a week or $10 per day.
Before-care can also be arranged beginning at 8 AM. $5 per day or $20 per week.
Arrangements for before or after-care should be made through the office prior to the start of the week.

Will my 6 year old be in the same class as 13 year olds?
No! Each week has a common theme, but the camp is divided by age group so that the projects and instruction will be age appropriate, challenging, and fun. Instructors will tailor the program to individual students as much as possible, depending on their previous artistic experience. Children must have already been enrolled in a full-day kindergarten
or first grade program.

What does my child need to bring?
Your child should wear clothes they don't mind getting wet or dirty. A bag lunch (refrigeration is available), sunscreen and any medication he or she might need.
