Max number of students: 25
Laugh and dance! Join us in a playful course and learn a combination of dance forms from the Beledi, the Egyptian folk dance; the Ghawazee, the Gypsies of Egypt, and Turkish movements. This dance encompasses use of isolation with hips, torso, arms, and belly to move to the rhythm of the music. A range of sensuous and fun drum rhythms such as Egyptian and Turkish will be explored. We will warm up with yoga stretches and meditative music. Veil dancing and costuming will be included. This ancient dance increases flexibility in the body and calms the mind. Join us in a safe and playful setting. Music is interpreted by the dancer. No choreography.
Supplies: Please bring yoga mats, a hip scarf, a water bottle, and wear loose, comfortable clothing to dance in. Class will be taught without shoes.
