This one day workshop will cover the basics of wet-plate photography: safety issues, equipment requirements, chemistry, pouring plates, exposure, development and plate varnishing. We will be working in the studio with electronic flash lighting making still lifes and portraits to learn how to pour and develop a plate. Additionally we will briefly cover the history of the process with historical examples and provide handouts on the process and resources for chemistry and equipment. The course fee includes all chemistry and materials and each participant will make at least one plate during the class.
