Wednesdays | 10:00am-12:00pm | Spring 1 | 5 weeks | 4/2-4/30

Portrait Studio, Carriage House

This class is intended for ages 18+

Tapestry weaving is the original social media! Way before books appeared on the scene, people told stories through tapestry. Like fiber graphic novels, medieval tapestries were packed with drama, symbolism and epic battles.

The same basic techniques that weavers used thousands of years ago are still in use today, and you can learn them in this class.

Not only is tapestry a beautiful art form, it’s good for your health. The mindful, rhythmic movements of tapestry weaving provide a meditative experience - perfect for unplugging from the stress of the day.

Over the course of 5 weeks, you will weave a tiny tapestry from start to finish and learn how prepare your loom for future projects.

Anyone interested in learning to weave tapestry is encouraged to enroll. If you’ve never touched a loom in your life, this class is for you. If you are an experienced handweaver, you will discover a new way to enjoy your loom.

Supplies:All supplies will be provided by the instructor, including a wooden tapestry loom and accessories (beater comb, shuttle stick, and tapestry needle), all of which students can keep.
